This year, I have worked with James PB Duffy School 12 administrators to create a Book of the Month video to be used as part of the character development. The Book of the Month is tied in with a character trait of the month along with websites and lessons for teachers to use with students. Below is the June Book of the Month.
I have found that using a mix of video of the reading of the book using the camera, the reader as an avatar using the Tellagami app and just pictures from the book with the readers voice provides enough of a change to keep the video interesting. I use the ipad to capture all the video and images of the book and put it together using iMovie on the iPad. I have found that the iRig microphone is a must have! Love this microphone and it makes a huge difference in recording.

After spending time working with teacher, trying the tools out, and speaking with users, this breakdown might assist. School communication: Class Dojo and Remind both connect you with your school for free. It is easy to add other teachers to your class. In Class Dojo, administrators and teachers can post to the whole school to send out updates, announcements, links to newsletters, and event pictures. This is shown in the School Story. Formative assessment is a process and the articles that fit tools into categories or parts of this process were most helpful to me. I looked at using Google Forms Quizzes, Socrative, and Kahoot all of which can be used to check for understanding. Google Forms is a great way to assess what your student learned in a lesson. I use Google Forms quite often but haven't looked at the new self-grading quizzes. After creating a new quiz, in the settings, you can turn on "Make this a quiz". Teachers can choose the correct answer in the answer key and assign the points for the the question. I also really like that you can add feedback for when the question is answered correct and incorrect. This immediate feedback can help students when they are still interested and have their mind on the topic. Google Forms can be used at an exit ticket, mid-lesson check, or within a blended setting where students are working at their own pace...
Carnival Poster I worked on an infographic poster for a carnival school event. After working in both Piktochart and Canva, I got a feel for both of them. The two posters are below. I found more free images that I liked. It doesn't provide an embed code. You can post to facebook or get the link to your work. Also to download the jpeg or a PDF, you need to pay for any of the images or templates that you used. I tried to use free images and didn't realize that I chose a template that costs $1. This poster will cost $1 which I will pay after I make final changes..Maybe this isn't that costly as a monthly upgrade on Piktochart is more expensive.
