Tech For Your Class

I have used ideas, resources and information from the Cool Tools PD in my work.   I support teachers as an instructional technology resource teacher.   I have worked with KidBlog and VoiceThread with classes in the past months.   I knew about the web-based resources but the information and the time to research during this PD helped me to get started with the projects.   What I also found is that I used the Cool Tools site as a resource.   For example a teachers was interested in digital story telling and I pulled up the website to give her ideas.   Another example, I was working with students on the iPad looking for images for a VoiceThread project. Many of the images weren’t allowing us to save them.   So I checked the Cool Tools site, and we ended up using the Photos for Class website for images.   The images turned out to be much higher quality and they are cited which worked out well.  I completed the Twitter thing in the PD which helps to increase professional connections.  

VoiceThread www.voicethread.com Free app on App store for IOS devices. VoiceThread is web-based, so there is now install.  If you are on a desktop computer, you may need a microphone if there isn't an internal mic. VoiceThread allows you to upload images, documents, or video. Commenting on on VoiceThread slides can be added as an audio comment, video comment through video camera, or typed comment. VoiceThread had a google account login, so teachers can sign in with their RCSD121 account.  You just have go into your gmail to verify the account.  In a teacher account, you can add identities. So you have add all your students names.  This works well in a K-2 classroom using an iPad.  You can only log into the account on 1 computer. Free accounts allow for 5 voiceThreads.  Sharing options allow you to share the link or an embed code. Over the past week I have used Twitter to find teacher and student Kidblogs to show as examples to teachers interested in blogging with students.  Using twitter I found lots of great Kidblog examples along with other Kidblog resources that I used for for professional development sessions on blogging with Kidblog.
