Online Exit ticket through Formative
Online Math Exit Tickets |
This year, I spent time exploring Formative assessment tools for a PD that a colleague and I created. So we created an outline and had about 12-16 tools and ideas. We ended up cutting down the resources to about six tools in the end as otherwise it was too overwhelming. I really like Quizziz as teachers can create a Quizziz and students can play/complete in a rotation in a blended classroom, together with the class or at home. I like this flexibility that it provides.
The resource that I have always heard about and often checked out and then never have used is Formative. A teacher emailed with a wonderful resource Embarc online. It is math resource that breaks down all of the Engage NY modules for every grade level. There are google docs, slides resources and many of the lessons have already created “Formative” exit tickets. It is an amazing wealth of resources. So I spent time to really understand and try out Formative. I will add more of a how to get started with Formative as it took a bit get it all going.
Getting Started with Formative to assign Formative exit tickets from Embarc online.
I hope some of the tips below, help to lessen any frustration and get started with using the online exit tickets for math.
Teacher:
- Go to Formative, https://goformative.com, click "I'm a teacher" and use "Login with Google" to create an account.
- Click on a Go Formative exit ticket link from Embarc online. Clone the exit ticket. (you can assign or come back to this after setting up your class in Formative. Just back out and the Formative is now listed as one of your Formatives.
- Go to the "Classes" tab. Make sure your Google Classroom is showing, if needed you can import classes or reimport students. I also delete all of my classes that I would not use with Formative to clean it up. Note that there is a code to the right of each class, you will need this to get your students connected.
- Co to the "Formatives" tab, click on the formative that you would like to assign. Choose your Google classroom & then make sure to turn on "Post to Google Classroom". This will post the assignment with link.
Students- 1st on GoFormative:
- Go to www.goformative.com, and choose "I'm a student", create an account, & "Login with Google". It does have "I am 13 yrs old" already checked for students.
- Click "Join a class" and add in the code from your teacher.
Students- 2nd from link in Google Classroom:
- Now, students can click on the link from the teacher for the exit ticket in their Google Classroom. (Important to do the first steps and join the class before clicking on the this link.)
- In Formative, I found the toolbar pretty easy to use. The drawing tool is awkward but not bad. I found the text tool also easy to use. Some examples of the exit ticket answers are below.
Embarc Online sounds like a great resource! Thanks for sharing those tips.
